Invitation for Prequalification

The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has received financing from the International Development Association (IDA) and other multi donors toward the cost of the Productive safety Net APL III Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments under the contract for the procurement of 82,000 MT of Maize. The Food Security Coordination Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) now intend to prequalify suppliers for the supply of 82,000 MT of Maize in three rounds, of which 30,000 MT each for the first two rounds and 22,000 MT for the third round.

Interested suppliers will provide information indicating their provenexperience and financial capability to provide and deliver grade-one Maize in amounts described above. It is expected that invitations forbid will be made in May 2011.

Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 (Revised January 2011), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines. The Credit Agreement allows a margin of preference for domestic qualified suppliers, and the Food security Coordination Directorate (FSCD)wishes to use the preference for the award of contract(s) subject to this prequalification.
Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification document at the Food Security Coordination Directorate (FSCD) of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) at the address provided below, during office hours from 8:30 A.M to 12:00 P.M and from 1:30 P.M to 5:00 P.M local time Monday to Friday. A short and modified set of the prequalification document in English language may be obtained by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below. The PQD can be sent electronically to foreign suppliers.

Applications for prequalification should be submitted in sealed envelopes, fax or email to the addresses below before or on May 17, 2011,at 15:00 Ethiopian Time and be clearly marked "Application to Prequalify for the Supply of 82, 000 MT of Maize.
