The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Central Statistics Agency has received financing in the amount of US$ 10 million amount equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the statistics for results project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.

The project will include the following components:

Component 1:  Organizational and Infrastructure Capacity Development in the NSS

Component 2:  Statistical Data Development and Management

Component 3: Statistical Methodology, Standards, and Data Quality Assurance and Information Dissemination

Component 4: Monitoring and Evaluation

Which includes Procurementof:

a)      Goods

•      Supply Installation & Commissioning of  video conference service at CSA headquarter & branch, Procurementof IT Equipments, Surveying tools, Vehicles and Office furniture

b)      Works  

•      Construction of four CSA branch Offices and rehabilitation ofoffice space at the CSA headquarter.

c)      Consultancy  

•      Design and computerization of a comprehensive business register, design of survey instruments,development and testing of an appropriate methodology for Improving Coverage and Quality of the Annual Agricultural Sample Survey (AGSS), TA to the CSA and selected stakeholders for the planning and compilation of vital statistics and carrying out stakeholder analysis and TA for skills upgrading of staff and data dissemination relatedactivities.

Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits January 2011, and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers IBRD Loans and IDA Credits  January 2011.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank's international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures will be announced as they become available, in UN Development Business and the Central Statistics Agency Website (www.csa.gov.et).
