1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. 679 of16 May 2006.

2. The Federal government of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of Electricity Access Expansion Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds ofthis credit to payments under the Contract for procurement of ServiceConnection Cables and Accessories, tender no. EAEP 2/2001.

3. The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCO) now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the procurement of the following materials: concentric insulated 1-phase Copper cables, Al/Cu parallel groove clamp with insulating cover, hook nut, dead-end clamps,hook bolt & hook screw, cable clamps with nails, 1-phase 20 A miniature circuit breaker for connection of 150000 customers, and 8000 steel tubes for earthing wire protection.

4. The procurement is divided in to four lots; the final destinations of the goods are Lot 1: Mekele, Lot 2: Bahir Dar, Lot 3: Addis Ababa and Lot 4: Shashamene project stores.

5. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits dated May 2004, revised October 2006, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

6. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation/ Electricity Access (Rural) Project I, Mr. Semere Assabie, Project Manager, e-mail:sem_earep1@yahoo.com, and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below 09:00 AM to O5:00 PM. Starting from September 08, 2009.

7. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written Application to the address below and upon payment of a non refundable fee ETB 300 or in USD30 for the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, Foreign Procurement Division, and UEAP Office starting from September 08, 2009. The methodof payment shall be in cash or cashier's cheque.

8. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before October 23, 2009, 2:00 PM. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend in person. Bids will be opened at the address below on October 23, 2009 at 2:30 PM. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security in Ethiopian Birr (ETB) or equivalent convertible currency in the following amounts:
