The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Transport System Improvement Project (TRANSIP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Construction of Africa Avenue - Bole Medhanialem Square – Traffic Police – Misrak Atekalay – British Embassy Urban Road Project.

The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Construction of an Urban Road that starts at Africa Avenue Infront of Alem Building and passes through Bole Medhanialem (Edna Mall) Square, Haya Hulet Traffic Police, Misrak Atekalay High School and ends at British Embassy. The road includes pedestrian walkways, urban spaces and traffic carriageways. The total length of the project is about 4.4 km; and the construction period is 2 years.

Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works, and non-Consulting Services Under IBRD Loans and Credits & Grants by the World Bank Borrowers dated January 2011 revised July 2014 and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines. In addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Addis Ababa City Roads Authority and inspect the bidding documents during office hours 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. local time from Monday to Thursday, and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. local time on Friday at the address given below.

A complete set of bidding documents in English Language may be purchased by interested eligible bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of USD 100.00 (US Dollar: One Hundred) or ETB 4,900.00 (Ethiopian Birr: Four Thousand Eight Hundred). The method of payment will be in cash, bank certified check or telegraphic transfer to the Purchaser’s Bank Account in the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia - Sar Bet Branch through Account No. 1000009607734 and the swift code is CBETETAA. The document will be delivered by hand.

Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before February 17, 2022 at 2:30 PM. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who choose to attend at the address below on February 17, 2022 at 3:00 PM.

All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of US$200,000.00 (United States Dollars: Two Hundred Thousand Only) or ETB 9,800,000.00 (Ethiopian Birr: Nine Million Eight Hundred Thousand) or equivalent amount in any freely convertible currency.
