1. Invitation to Bid
One Acre Fund (OAF) works to improve the lives of farmers through innovative means. We envision a future in which every farm family has the knowledge and means to achieve big harvests, support healthy families, and cultivate rich soil.
OAF (One Acre Fund) would like to engage a suitably qualified supplier for supply of Plastic sockets according to the terms and conditions stated under this RFQ document. We will use these plastic sockets to grow seedlings.
2. Instruction and Requirements
2.1. Volume Requirements

2.2. Production, Quality, Packaging and Delivery Requirements
2.2.1. The supplier will deliver the goods according to the specifications for each size socket (e.g. thickness, dimensions, and minimum quantity per kg of material
2.2.2. Suppliers may use recycled material in the production of the goods, however, the amount of recycled material used to produce the sockets should not exceed 80% of the raw materials.
2.2.3. Other Socket Specifications
2.2.3.1. Open at top and bottom, easily spread wide by hand
2.2.3.2. Black color
2.2.3.3. No holes (besides top and bottom)
2.2.3.4. Uniform shape and size
2.2.3.5. Resistant to tearing when filled with soil
2.2.3.6. Resistant to water damage
2.3. The sockets shall be packaged uniformly in bags, each bag containing a specified number of sockets. This shall be specified by OAF prior to contract signing.
2.4. The different socket sizes shall be packaged in different coloured/marked sacks so they can be easily distinguished.
2.5. OAF will assign personnel who will be overseeing the production on a daily basis and checking daily the quality and number of plastic sockets produced at the supplier’s premises/factory. The successful bidder should comply with this requirement and facilitate the function of these OAF quality check workers.
2.6. Vendors should plan to produce all sockets within three months.
2.7. OAF might not award all volumes on the same date and for a single vendor. OAF makes no commitments about the date of awarding lots.
2.8. Bidders are required to attach Relevant & Valid license to operate in Ethiopia, business profile and list of organizations supplied with the same or similar product.
2.9. OAF reserves the right to amend the bid or any aspect of the bid and to reject any submitted bid by any supplier for any reason without having to provide a reason for any such decision and action. No liability attaches to OAF’s actions and decisions unless and until a contract is executed with the winning bidder.
2.10. OAF must visit the winning Bidder’s factory to verify the number of machines and the overall quality of the facilities before committing to a contract with the Supplier.
2.11. After receiving bids, OAF may make contact with Bidders and invite them to negotiate any particular aspect of their bids, such as prices, quality and other commercial and technical terms.
