1. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has applied for financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the South Sudan - Ethiopia - Djibouti Transport Corridor Project, Phase II and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Design & Build of Melkajilo (60km) - Awash Expressway.
2. The Ethiopian Road Administration intends to prequalify Contractors for the Design & Build of Melkajilo (60km) - Awash Expressway of the South Sudan - Ethiopia - Djibouti Transport Corridor Project, Phase II. The project road begins from MelkaJilo (km 60) and traverses part of Amora-Bet Kebele, and other Kebeles such as Ilala, Dhega Hedu, Kobo and Benti in Fentale Woreda of Oromia region, then traverses the Awash National Park, traverses two Kebeles of Gobel and Seblel in Awash Fantale Woreda and Kusura Kebele in Amibar Woreda and ends at 127+400km on Mille - Djibouti junction road. The length of the main Expressway is approximately 67.4 km. It is expected that the Design and Construction works will be undertaken in a period of 4.5 Years, with additional 1 Year Defect Notification Period and 4 Years Warranty Period.
3. Prequalification will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the African Development Bank's Procurement Framework (October 2015) and is open to all eligible Applicants as defined in the Procurement Framework and is available on the Bank's website: www.afdb.org and is open to all qualified applicants.
4. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the Engineering Procurement Directorate, Ethiopian Roads Administration and inspect the bidding document during office hours from 08:30 to 12:30 in the morning and 13:30 to 17:30 in the afternoon from Monday to Thursday and from 08:30 to 11:30 in the morning and 13:30 to 17:30 in the afternoon on Fridays (Local time), except public holidays.
5. A complete set of prequalification documents in English may be purchased by interested Applicants on submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Ethiopian Birr Six Thousand Birr (ETB 6,000.00) or in United States Dollars Fifty ($50.00). The method of payment shall be direct deposit to ERA's account in the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia - Sengatera Branch, Account No. 01715-33144600-Swift Code - CBETETAA.
